These champion bodybuilders are champions for a reason. They are gifted in the genetic department and I have to wonder if they are also drug-free.

A lot of the articles you will find in these magazines are pure suicide for the rest of us. These articles are basically useless and without scientific foundation. They can and probably are responsible for training injuries, overtraining, and body breakdowns. What most of these article WON'T tell you is this...

Many of the bodybuilders are probably not performance enhancing drug-free. What these articles WILL tell you is this...

If you consume all these expensive supplements because bodybuilding, do all these "better" training techniques and more dedication to the bodytraining arts.

10 Reasons Why the Primal Diet Is Wrong

The foundation of Mark Sisson's primal diet (lots of fatty meat, some vegetables, nuts and seeds, limited fruit, and no cereal grains) is that we should eat what our ancestors ate. According to him, this means lots of meat and fat and very few carbohydrates. These are the foods that our ancestors thrived on and these are the foods that we thrive on today.

Let's start by analyzing the first part of that statement: Did our ancestors really thrive on animal flesh?

Look to Your Ancestors

Here are just a few points that refute Mark's argument that our ancestors relied heavily on meat:

#1: Humans Were Gatherers First, Hunters Second

If I learned one thing over and over again from the numerous anthropology courses I attended in college (anthropology was my minor), it's that humans were primarily gatherers. Over 70% of the foods we consumed were plant-based. And this makes perfect. We are not very adept at hunting. We have dull nails, flat teeth, and we aren't very fast. It took a lot of work for us to track and take down an animal, even a small one.

#2: Heavy Meat-Eating was Limited to the Ice Age

It is very likely that our ancestors (at least some of them, depending upon the region), lived on a large portion of meat in all diet plan. And even though most vegans may scoff at it, this was a GREAT thing for our species in a word 17 day diet.

If we had not created new tools for killing large animals, (such as long spears with sharp, curved points all over the blade that did a great job of taking down large prey while we remained at a safe distance) rather than relying on small tools for scavenging, and if we had not learned how to track and hunt these animals effectively because of lindora weight loss, our species would not have survived the harsh conditions of this particular glacial maximum (aka the Ice Age).

While it's clear that humans have always consumed some meat, it's also clear that we did not consume any animal by-products (e.g. dairy and eggs) until we became sedentary and began domesticating animals. Why Mark thinks that consuming butter and cream correlates to a hunter-gatherer diet, I haven't the foggiest.

Look to Your Anatomy

Regardless of the immense research and fact finding that has been done regarding human evolution, the simple fact remains that we were not there to witness it. We will never know for sure what really happened.

So since the past will never be fully understood as well as cabbage soup diet, is it really a good idea to base an entire diet around what we think our ancestors consumed? I don't think so.

I think it is a much better idea to look at what we do know, and that's the human body as it exists today. And it just so happens that everything we know supports a high carb lifestyle, not a low carb one.

Purposely entering into ketosis, which is what Mark's low carb diet forces the body to do, is not advantageous. Ketosis is a survival mechanism, necessary in times of famine, and should not be viewed as a viable weight loss or health strategy.

The Emergency Weight Loss Steps:


  1. Week One, Part One -- drink a protein shake supplement everyday. Do not change anything else. Drink a protein shake that's a 50:50 mix of whey to casein proteins. The best time to drink the shake depends on your physical activities.


    Since most bodybuilders know what to do, I suggest for the rest of us via weight loss calculator, a protein shake between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and dinner wanna cabbage soup diet. Fact #2: Even a "good" diet is usually mis-handled. (Okay, one opinion.)

Fact #3: You won't get there without exercise.

Fact #4: In place of a "diet" you need to substitute good nutrition.

Fact #5: Almost everything else is a helper or a hindrance.

Fact #6: You need your own weight loss program, not somebody else's.

A DIET IS NOT A PERMANENT WEIGHT LOSS SOLUTION

It is well documented that dieting, that is removing certain things from you normal list of foods you eat or eating only certain foods, does not work as a permanent weight loss solution. The explanation of this could be the subject of a book itself, but to make it short, you get bored, it's hard to stay on the diet, dieting produces changes in your body that encourage weight gain by water diet, you lose energy, it just isn't fun and so on. There is good scientific evidence that things like cortisol and caffeine can influence weight gain and weight loss, for example, but if you were to try to control your weight over a lifetime by controlling these factors, you probably would not notice any real results. If, however, you were to begin eating sensibly and getting more exercise, taking cortisol blockers or cutting caffeine out of your diet MIGHT contribute a few extra pounds of weight loss, but it is weight you will probably lose eventually if you stay on your weight loss program.

YOUR WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM, THAT'S THE GOAL

You are not your brother, your sister, or your mother no matter how closely you are tied to them genetically. What works for one of them might not be what you need. You need to exercise, but maybe not as much as your friend and weight loss blogs. You need to eat less chocolate ice cream, but maybe you can't eat as much as your friend does. Well, you will have to experiment and see. Eat the foods you like, just eat them in sensible quantities and eat primarily foods that have a lot of real nutrition in them. What foods? Speaking of goals, your goal is to be healthy and happy. Wanting to weigh a given weight because somebody else weighs that amount is senseless.
